Fondazione AEM (FAEM)

Fondazione AEM (FAEM) was founded in 2007 by the energy company AEM, then A2A. Its initial objective was to preserve and promote the historic heritage of the municipal energy company. This included maintenance and gradual digitalisation of its large historical archives, diffusion of knowledge through visits of classes and citizens to the company plants and through the creation of a corporate museum (AEMuseum) in Piazza Po 3 in Milan.

Today FAEM continues its environmental and smart energy consumption education activities through theatre shows, photo contest and interactive workshops on sustainability and energy justice as well as screening of selected movies exploring topics related to the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aimed at students from middle and high schools.

The portfolio of projects of FAEM has gradually been extended to support training and development of innovative didactic material in the field of energy and environmental sustainability. Among these projects stands the World Access to Modern Energy (WAME) project. WAME focuses on the SDG7 (Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy services for all) by raising awareness and designing didactic material for middle and high schools as well as stakeholders in general on the role of SDG7 and linked SDGs. WAME was launched in 2015 and its initial task was to create and manage exhibitions and seminars in and around the EXPO 2015 site. Today the WAME project works in close collaboration with many partners and schools around Europe as well as the Florence School of Regulation (FSR) Global at the European University Institute (EUI) which provides a precious connection with the world of academic research and higher education through the running online courses for regulation practitioners throughout the world.

FAEM's main contribution to the YSC project will consist of drafting the knowledge content for the learning platform, designing Lesson Plans on how to engage with students in a cross-disciplinary and interactive manner on the platform and supporting the overall Project Management of the project.
